My name is Bruce Le Nevé, pleased to meet you ! I’m a french freelance illustrator who graduated from Emile Cohl in 2021. At some point in my life, having ideas weren’t enough, I wanted to bend it into our world, so I learnt everything needed to achieve that goal. I’m still learning to this day, and the more I learn, the higher I want to climb !
Today, I can tell with a lof of confidence that I can draw a lot of subjects with a lot of control, because I learned subjects like perspective, anatomy, construction, lighting, color theory, composition… Starting with initial research sketches, I can go for high end quality illustration. I mostly draw digitally, but I always draw whenever I can with a pen or a marker on a sketchbook. This is the tools that I’m the most comfortable with and are absolutely amazing to keep a sharp mind.
I love to explore new things, thematics, worlds… But I do have comfort zones ! creatures and monsters, stained-glass windows, pretty women… These are easily the things that I love the most drawing, it appeases my mind a lot.
- My tools -
I work on an XPPen Artist 15.6 Pro tablet. I have a secondary screen iiyama G-Master G2730HSU-B1 Black Hawk where I can see the references I’m using while working. I also work on a very good computer so that I can process very high quality workfiles effortlessly !
I use ClipStudioPaint since 2019 (||-> If you need photoshop files, do not worry, CSP can convert their files to .PSD ! <-||), and I started to learn Blender from here and there to use it in my process. I’ve already did that with some of my work and it’s absolutely fantastic. I use it to make some references or to build scenes with simple shapes that I can paint on top.
I’m planning on mixing traditional and digital in my workflow, I may add a complete project to my portfolio using this technique in the future.
